BONSAI NEWS AND EVENTS

The Scottish Bonsai Association invites you to explore the latest updates in our bonsai community. This page brings together official announcements, upcoming workshops, exhibitions, and seasonal gatherings, alongside stories that highlight the artistry and joy of bonsai across Scotland.

Cupar Flower Show - Bonsai Section

It sounds like the Cupar Flower Show is shaping up nicely this year, and the fact that it includes a bonsai section makes it especially appealing if you’re thinking about showcasing any of your trees.

The key details :

Date: 15 August

Location: Cupar, Fife

Feature: Dedicated bonsai section

Entry: You can contact the organisers for more details about submitting your bonsai trees

If you’re considering entering, it’s worth thinking about which of your trees are show‑ready, typically those with strong structure, good ramification, and a clean presentation. Shows like this often welcome a range of styles and species, so you don’t need a competition-grade specimen to take part.

Dalgety Bay Horticultural Society Show — Bonsai Display Opportunity

The Dalgety Bay Horticultural Society Show takes place on Saturday 5 September 2026, and it’s another welcoming local event where a bonsai display would fit beautifully. The show has a strong community feel, with classes and exhibits covering a wide range of plants, so a couple of well‑prepared bonsai can really stand out and spark curiosity.

If you’re thinking of taking part, the organisers are happy to provide entry details. They don’t require competition‑level trees, just healthy specimens with tidy presentation and clear styling. A mix of species or a single tree with good character can make a lovely contribution and help introduce visitors to the craft.
