BORDEAUX MIXTURE - Invented in the Bordeaux region of France in the late 19th century this mixture of copper sulphate and slaked lime, is used as a fungicide to prevent downy and powdery mildew and other fungi. Its function is preventative as it is ineffective after a fungus has become established.
