Standards high at Gardening Scotland

Following the very successful National Exhibition at Whitburn the focus moved to Gardening Scotland at Ingliston. We saw outstanding display stands from the SBA and the National Collection, both of which won Gold medals and a National Collection Tokonama was also chosen By Mr Suganama as Consul Generals choice. Nearly 200 trees from 50 members took part in the competition category, a record! The sun shone and we were inundated with visitors, many of whom were given advice and guidance from our members on duty over the three days. The Japanese Garden in celebration of 150 years of cultural relationships between Scotland and Japan, which won a silver medal, was also a huge hit with visitors who also appreciated the regular tea ceremony carried out in the garden by Mio Shapley from the Japan Centre. Kenny's "create a bonsai", which also featured at the National Exhibition, once again drew the crowds and got folks actively involved in bonsai and maybe generated a few potential members for the future.

Well done to everyone who took part, enjoy the summer, look after your trees and start planning for further successes at next years events.
