Existing Bonsai A To Z Entry for Cherry - Flowering (Prunus serrulata) Cherry - Flowering (Prunus serrulata)  - (Tree Type (Outdoors)) Ornamental tree with small oval, pointed, serrated edged leaves and spectacular pink/white blossoms. which unfortunately last only a few weeks in spring. STYLE : suited to every style, except broom. WARNING : Do not water blossom to avoid damaging the petals. Care Info LOCATION : Position in full sun and protect from frosts. Flowers should be shielded from  heavy rain to prevent damage.  Flower buds also need protection from birds. REPOT : Annually in spring before the buds show colour. pH 6.0-8.0. SOIL : Free draining soil : 40:60 grit:organic. PRUNE : Hard prune branches in winter. Prune again after after flowering. PINCH: Pinch out new shoots in autumn. WATER : Water well in growing season, sparingly in winter. FEED : Apply balanced feed every 2 weerks from after flowering to late summer. WARNING : Do not water blossom to avoid damaging the petals.
