The shedding of LEAVES, FRUIT, flower or seed from parts of a tree.

Abscission normally occurs in DECIDUOUSTREE>DECIDUOUS TREEs in the autumn. SoME trees also abscise limbs as part of the reproduction process e.g. Willow. Fruits may be abscised from trees to benefit the remaining fruits allowing them to come to maturity.
